When Creator Recorder fits

Choose Creator Recorder if you want to make a longer tutorial, screen demo or lesson and keep the finished file yourself. Record in the browser, use your phone camera without an app, trim or cut the result, then download without an added watermark.

You do not get an automatic cloud library or a hosted share link on the free plan. Download before closing the page. Device memory and storage place practical limits on recording length.

When Loom fits better

Loom may be the better choice for quick workplace updates where sending a link matters more than keeping a local video file. Its free Starter plan includes comments, reactions and viewer insights. The five-minute limit can suit a short update.

Creator Recorder is not a drop-in replacement for Loom's collaboration, cloud sharing or paid features. If those are central to your work, compare Loom's available plans rather than choosing only on recording time.

Try your next tutorial without a fixed five-minute cap

  1. Open Creator Recorder on your computer and choose screen or screen and camera.
  2. Select your microphone and the screen you want to share. Make a short test clip.
  3. Record your tutorial, then trim or cut the parts you do not need.
  4. Download and play the file. Upload it to your own chosen video service if you need a shareable link.

No installer or paid plan is needed for this workflow. Keep private information off-screen and check your browser permissions before recording.

Questions before you record

Is Creator Recorder the same as Loom?

No. Creator Recorder focuses on browser recording, editing and downloads. Loom includes a hosted sharing and collaboration workflow. Choose based on what you need to do with the finished video.

Does Loom have a recording limit?

The official Loom help checked on 7 October 2026 lists a five-minute limit for free Starter recordings. Paid Business, Business + AI and Enterprise plans have unlimited recording time.

Can I share my Creator Recorder video with a link?

The free plan exports a file, not a hosted video link. You can upload the downloaded file to a service you choose. Creator Recorder hosted sharing is planned for Pro, not included now.
